Yogi Buddies Journey
Lauren began her experience of yoga and the therapeutic benefits of this practice in 2015, this has always influenced her work with children and young people, using mindfulness techniques and activities. So in 2018 Lauren trained as a children’s yoga teacher with Children Do Yoga and began running yoga sessions for wellbeing including specialist workshops on topics such as ‘self love’ within the community. Building groups of regular and committed Yogi’s, these yoga sessions have created a community of EMOTIONALLY & PHYISCAL HEALTHY MINDFUL CHILDREN. This continued throughout Covid working to offer children a space to connect to their emotions, be mindful, move their bodies and connect to others as well as themselves during such a difficult period of time.
Unlocking The Language Of Touch: Understanding The Importance Of Physical Connection In Child Development
Alongside developing therapeutic skills within CAMHS services including DDP attachment and trauma therapy and DBT therapy. Lauren found how her yoga skills naturally weaved into her therapeutic work and this combination together was more powerful. Using a mix of yoga, breath work, meditation and psychological therapies to practice; taking this beyond yoga into yoga therapy. To consolidate this practice Lauren completed a Yoga therapy course 2020-2021 which was specialist for children and young people accredited by British Psychology Society.
Lauren has a TRAUMA INFORMED CHILD LED APPROACH as the basis to yoga therapy sessions, she has developed specialised knowledge and skills for effective clinical interventions both with individuals and families. There was a high level of demand for private work, leading to a waiting list. Lauren struggled not being able to offer all families immediate support, but as a therapist wanted to responsible and not over work to ensure her practice remained a high standard. Lauren struggled with ‘costing’ of private work and was undercharging in comparison to other therapists as many families just aren’t able to afford private therapy and struggle to get support elsewhere. After many years of wondering about these issues Lauren thought of a possible solution, offering to share her knowledge and skills through online programmes. Of course this isn’t a replacement for 1-1 therapy and the power that happens within this work and therapeutic relationship. But Lauren wanted to offer a much needed TOOL to EDUCATE & EMPOWER children & parents to understand difficulties they face and ways to support this. This lead to the creation of online programmes which aim to offer to SUPPORT MENTAL WELLBEING OF CHILDREN from infants to teens and their parents throughout these varied stages.

Yogibabies Journey
After becoming pregnant in late 2021 I felt the theory of attachment I had studied so much from the heart not the head. I knew I wanted to continue to share the love of yoga and movement with my baby to assist with our bonding. I trained in baby massage and yoga during my pregnancy to prepare me as a new mum to have a tool to help with BONDING & DEVELOPMENT of my baby. This training was a turning point, I couldn’t help but draw the clear links to my attachment training. All the principle and concepts shared but a different language used. I knew I had to share a combination of my trainings with babies and mothers, I knew I could offer something DIFFERENT, HOLISTIC & SPECIALIST to basic massage and yoga classes. I could share my knowledge and skills and EDUCATE & EMPOWER new parents on how to best support their BABIES WELLBEING & DEVELOPMENT.
‘It is through our hands that we speak to the child. That we communicate.

Our Mission Statement: Empowering Children And Families Through Holistic Wellness And Connection
The aim is to enhance the wellbeing of all children and young people in a child led gentle way. Future wellbeing starts in infancy, forming secure attachment and meeting developmental milestones in the first couple of years of life as been PROVEN POSITIVELY INFLUENCE FUTURE MENTAL WELLBEING. Nothing matters more to a parent than the physical & mental wellbeing of their child- but this can’t be taken for granted and parents need to INVEST supporting this.
Lauren has found the most effective approach for her practice being a COMBINATION OF TRADITIONAL WESTERN AND HOLISTIC YOGI THERAPIES. These session use a trauma informed approach using teachings of yoga therapy based in traditional of yoga and traditional psychological teachings. Yogi buddies are passionate about EARLY INTERVENTION; wellbeing sessions which can help to prevent further difficulties.
Yogi Buddies wants to make therapeutic sessions accessible for ALL children who require this and are suffering from trauma, attachment, mental and emotional difficulties. The demand for this is sadly increasing & in turn NHS and charity services are overrun, this lead to my desire to offer private work. Unfortantely due to this high demand for private therapy Yogibuddies now is now having to operate on a waiting list system meaning families aren’t able to access my support immediately. It is so hard to send away children and families in need even for a short period of time. This inspired my idea for online resources to be able to offer some support for children and families either as a form of early input to prevent the need for future therapy by promoting development and well-being (this starts from birth) or as a form of support until they are able to access therapy.
Lauren has now practied yoga for 6 years and been a qualified teacher for 3 years years. As both a children’s yoga wellbeing practitioner and therapist Lauren has strong core values including compassion which is at the core of therapeutic work when working with children and young people experiencing emotional pain, distress or confusion. Lauren aims to create an empathic, safe and non-judgmental environment to listen without preconceptions and allow children to feel their voice is heard and feelings and experiences are validated. Taking responsibility to provide expert care seriously, taking account for continued growth as a professional. Lauren is open about all professional credentials and training. Integrity summaries Lauren’s work, her work comes from her heart as she has learnt children can feel authenticity. Upholding ethical and moral standards is the core of Lauren’s work, she works of the principle of ensuring all decision are in a child’s best interests and their welfare is paramount.
